Get Your Labs Drawn Where You Get Your Care: In-Office Blood Draws in Downers Grove, IL

Book Appointment Now

Starting October 19, 2026, patients can have their blood drawn right in our Downers Grove office. If you have been searching for a blood draw near you that does not mean a separate trip to an outside lab, MAIA Gynecology now has a phlebotomist on our team. Your blood can be drawn during your visit, or you can book a lab-only appointment online. Samples are processed by LabCorp.

Two Ways to Get Your Labs Drawn

During your visit

If your provider orders bloodwork at your appointment, you can have it drawn before you leave. There is no second stop, and no need to take more time off work to visit a separate lab. This works for labs ordered at your annual wellness visit, a problem visit, or a follow-up.

As a lab-only appointment

If you only need a blood draw, you can book a lab appointment online through our scheduling system. This is a good option when your provider has ordered follow-up labs, or when you need bloodwork drawn ahead of your next visit so results are ready to review together.

Lab Orders From Outside Physicians Are Welcome

You do not need to be a MAIA patient to use our lab. If another physician, such as your primary care doctor or a specialist, has ordered bloodwork for you, we can draw it here. Please schedule an appointment for these draws rather than walking in, and bring a copy of your lab order with you. Your sample is sent to LabCorp, and results are returned to the physician who ordered the testing.

Bloodwork Commonly Ordered in Gynecologic Care

Your provider decides which tests make sense based on your history, symptoms, and goals. In a gynecology practice, bloodwork is often part of evaluating or monitoring:

  • Hormone levels during perimenopause and menopause, including patients on menopausal hormone therapy

  • Irregular cycles and symptoms related to PCOS

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding and its effect on blood counts and iron levels, a common concern with menorrhagia and fibroids

  • Thyroid function, which can affect cycles, energy, and weight

  • Infection testing as part of STD screening

  • Baseline and follow-up labs for patients in our weight management program

Having these labs drawn where you receive your gynecologic care keeps the testing, the results, and the treatment plan in one place.

What to Expect at Your Lab Appointment

A blood draw usually takes only a few minutes. Our phlebotomist will confirm your identity and your lab order, draw the sample from a vein in your arm, and label it for LabCorp. Most patients can return to their normal day right away.

A few tips help the visit go smoothly:

  • Ask whether you need to fast. Some tests, such as certain glucose and cholesterol panels, require fasting beforehand. Your ordering provider will tell you if yours does.

  • Drink water. Unless you have been told otherwise, staying hydrated can make a draw easier.

  • Bring your order and insurance card. This is especially important if your labs were ordered by a physician outside MAIA.

  • Let us know about fainting or a fear of needles. Tell our phlebotomist before the draw so they can help you stay comfortable.

Lab Draw Details: Timing, Walk-Ins, Insurance, and Results

When can I start getting labs drawn at MAIA?

In-office lab draws begin October 19, 2026.

Which lab processes my bloodwork?

All samples drawn in our office are sent to LabCorp for processing.

Can I walk in for a blood draw?

If your labs are ordered during a visit, they can usually be drawn before you leave. For lab-only draws, including orders from outside physicians, please schedule an appointment ahead of time.

Will my insurance cover the lab testing?

Lab testing is processed by LabCorp, and coverage depends on your insurance plan and the tests ordered. If you have questions about your benefits, check with your insurance company before your appointment. You can also review our financing, pricing, and insurance information.

How will I get my results?

Results go to the provider who ordered your labs. If a MAIA provider ordered your bloodwork, your care team will review the results and follow up with you about any next steps. If an outside physician ordered your labs, that office will share your results with you.
